The Modern Cloth Diapers

Many mummies (or parents or guardians) already know about this modern cloth diapers, but I still want to share this because it is not really familiar for most mommies I know.

The modern cloth diapers were just like upgraded cloth diapers. It is usually composed of an insert and a shell. The insert is an absorbent material that you put inside the shell, and the shell holds the insert and prevent leaks. The shell is made from a polyurethane laminated fabric or PUL, it is water proof and breathable.

This is a Kawaii pocket diaper. (left - shell; right - insert)
Unlike our traditional lampin or flat diapers, we can use these diapers just like how we use the disposables. Even though it is cloth, we can use it longer and change diapers every 2-3 hours. It can even be used overnight (for like 8 hrs.++). Thanks to the suede or fleece cloth that gives the diaper a stay dry feeling just like the disposables.

This modern cloth diapers offer 4 good things/features:
  1. Eco-friendly. "Your diapers go to the landfill, mine goes to the laundry", says the cloth diapering mommies. Global warming is a real big problem today and did you know that it takes hundred of years to decompose the disposable diapers? Let's reduce wastes.
  2. One size fits most. The shell of these modern cloth diapers usually have plastic snaps that you can use to adjust the size. This diapers can fit approximately 7 to 35 pound baby. In others words, you can use this to your baby from their 1st month until they're ready to potty train at about 2 or 3 years old.
This picture shows the different sizes that you can make by adjusting the plastic snaps
  3. BIG savings. "Invest now, and save later". Since you can wash and reuse this diapers, you don't have to buy over and over again. You just have to buy enough diapers that you need (about 25-30 diapers, depends on laundry schedule) and that's it. Maybe you'll be replacing some diapers if something's wrong or not good anymore, but it's not a big deal as long as you take good care of the diapers, right? I've heard many mommies that have used their diapers for 3 years and they even said that it is still good to use for the next baby and these diapers will always have resale value as long as it is still good to use.
  4. Colors and Prints. The diaper shells come in different colors and lots of prints! This makes most mommies addicted (as in ADDICTED) to buy and collect lots diapers. So beware :p
